The Rise of the Oversized Blazer
Blazers were invented in the 80s by the Lady Margaret Rowing Club to prevent them from rain and cold weather. I’ve always been very fond of blazers, but a style that has been getting a lot of attention is the oversized blazer. I enjoy the oversized blazers look and how I can transform the blazer into a dress with a belt or how it can compliment an outfit I put together.
Oversized blazers have been getting a lot more popular between men and women. The jacket provides comfort and is more relaxed, which can relate to the pandemic. People dressed more comfortably because they were locked down and always in their houses.
On social media, the oversized blazer is also shown and talked about. TikTok is the favored source of conversation for this clothing item. With sustainable fashion becoming more well-received, this also caused the oversized blazer to rise more in its popularity.
For this look, I wanted to continue with the dark color theme for this fall/winter, so I purchased this forest green blazer from Zara. I went three sizes up so I could achieve that oversized look. The material on this blazer was charming. It was very well structured and fit well even though I went up in size; it didn’t overpower me because of how big it was, which I think is excellent. I added these purple boots to add more color to the outfit. Wanting the blazer and boots to stand out, I chose to wear a white button-up top with lace corset detailing in the front and some black flare jeans. I wanted to tie in the purple boots with accessories, so I wore these black and purple sunglasses. I then added this black and white XO shoulder bag that I thrifted.
